Safety Information

Read and understand all instructions before use. Always wear proper protective equipment.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear chainsaw protective pants, safety boots, gloves, eye protection, and hearing protection.
  2. Work Area Safety: Keep bystanders and pets at least 15 feet away. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Fuel Safety: Refuel outdoors only, with engine stopped and cool. Use fresh fuel mix (gasoline and 2-stroke oil).
  4. Kickback Zone: Be aware of the upper quadrant of the guide bar tip where kickback occurs. Never cut with this part of the bar.
  5. Chain Brake: Test chain brake function before each use.

WARNING! A chainsaw is a dangerous tool. Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or death.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble guide bar and chain.

  1. Attach Guide Bar & Chain: Place bar on studs. Fit chain over sprocket and onto bar groove. Ensure cutting teeth face forward on top of bar. Tighten bar nuts finger-tight.
  2. Tension Chain: Use side tensioner screw to adjust chain tension. Lift tip of bar up, then tighten bar nuts fully. Chain should be snug but pull freely by hand.
  3. Fill Fuel: Use Husqvarna 2-stroke oil mixed with unleaded gasoline (50:1 ratio). Shake container well before filling.
  4. Fill Chain Oil: Use Husqvarna chain oil or equivalent. Check oil level frequently during use.

CAUTION! Ensure chain brake is disengaged (pulled back toward front handle) before starting.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Familiarize yourself with all controls before starting.

Front Handle: Contains front hand guard/inertia chain brake. Rear Handle: Contains throttle trigger, throttle trigger lockout, choke/stop control, and primer bulb (if equipped).

Controls: Throttle trigger (controls engine speed), Throttle trigger lockout (must be pressed to access throttle), Choke/stop control (three positions: Run, Choke, Stop), Chain brake handle (manual activation), Decompression valve (reduces cylinder pressure for easier starting).

Starting & Stopping

Always start on ground or other firm surface.

  1. Cold Start: Set chain brake to engaged (pushed forward). Press decompression valve. Move choke/stop control to choke position. Press throttle trigger lockout and throttle trigger once to set fast idle. Pull starter handle until engine fires. Move choke/stop control to run position. Pull starter handle again to start. Allow to warm up.
  2. Warm Start: Follow cold start but leave choke in run position.
  3. Stopping: Release throttle trigger. Move choke/stop control to stop position.

Tip: Never drop-start the chainsaw. Always use proper starting procedure.

Basic Operation

Use proper cutting techniques for safety and efficiency.

  1. Grip: Hold front handle with left hand, rear handle with right hand. Thumbs wrapped underneath.
  2. Stance: Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, left foot slightly forward.
  3. Basic Cuts: Let the chain do the work. Apply light pressure. For felling and limbing, use appropriate techniques described in full manual.
  4. Kickback Prevention: Maintain secure grip. Do not cut with upper tip of bar. Be aware of wood tension and binding.
  5. Chain Lubrication: Check oil output frequently. Chain should throw a fine mist of oil.

WARNING! Never operate chainsaw above shoulder height or with one hand.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures performance and longevity.

Chain Sharpening

A sharp chain cuts faster and safer.

  1. Secure bar in vise. Identify cutters that need sharpening (look for damaged or shiny edges).
  2. Use correct round file size (typically 5/32" or 4.0 mm). Maintain filing angle (typically 30°).
  3. File from inside cutter outward. Apply equal strokes to each cutter.
  4. File depth gauges (rakers) with flat file and gauge. Maintain proper height (0.025" / 0.65 mm below cutter).

CAUTION! Always wear gloves when handling chain.

Storage

Prepare chainsaw for storage if not used for more than 30 days.

  1. Empty fuel tank and run engine until it stops to clear carburetor.
  2. Remove chain, clean, and soak in oil. Clean guide bar groove and oil hole.
  3. Clean entire saw. Check for loose screws or damage.
  4. Store in dry, clean place, out of reach of children.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in tank for extended periods.
