Safety Information

Read and understand all safety instructions before operation.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear chainsaw protective pants, safety helmet with visor and hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
  2. Work Area Safety: Clear work area of obstacles and ensure no persons or animals are within 15 meters (50 feet).
  3. Kickback Zone: Avoid contact with the upper quadrant of the guide bar tip.
  4. Fuel Safety: Refuel outdoors with engine stopped and cooled. Use fuel mix 50:1 (2% Husqvarna HP Ultra or equivalent).
  5. Chain Brake Test: Test function before each use by pulling front hand guard toward bar.

WARNING! Chainsaws are dangerous tools. Improper use can cause serious or fatal injury. Never operate when tired, under influence of medication, alcohol, or drugs.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble on a clean, stable surface.

  1. Attach Guide Bar & Chain: Place bar on sprocket, fit chain over bar with cutting teeth facing forward, adjust tension with side screw.
  2. Fill Fuel Tank: Use fresh fuel mix (50:1). Do not use automotive fuel or straight gasoline.
  3. Fill Chain Oil Tank: Use Husqvarna chain oil or equivalent biodegradable oil.
  4. Check Chain Tension: Chain should be snug against bar but pull freely by hand.

CAUTION! Ensure chain brake is disengaged (pulled back) before starting. Wear protective gloves during assembly.

Technical Specifications

Controls and Components

Main Controls: Throttle trigger, throttle trigger lockout, stop switch, choke control, primer bulb, chain brake/hand guard, decompression valve (if equipped).

Components: Front handle, rear handle, fuel tank cap, oil tank cap, spark plug cover, muffler, guide bar, chain catcher, felling marks.

Chain Brake: Manual activation by pulling front hand guard toward bar. Automatic activation by inertia during kickback.

Throttle Lockout: Must be depressed before throttle trigger can be engaged.

Starting & Stopping the Engine

Cold Start:

  1. Place saw on firm ground. Engage chain brake.
  2. Press decompression valve (if equipped).
  3. Set stop switch to start position.
  4. Pull choke control to full choke.
  5. Press primer bulb 4-6 times until fuel is visible.
  6. Hold front handle with left hand, place right foot in rear handle.
  7. Pull starter handle until engine fires (1-4 pulls).
  8. Push choke control to half-throttle position.
  9. Pull starter handle until engine starts.
  10. Blip throttle to disengage fast idle.
  11. Disengage chain brake before cutting.

Warm Start: Skip choke and primer steps. Use half-throttle position.

Stopping: Release throttle, set stop switch to STOP position.

Basic Cutting Techniques

Always maintain secure footing and grip with both hands.

  1. Felling: Use felling marks for direction. Make notch cut (1/3 diameter), then felling cut leaving hinge wood.
  2. Limbing: Work from trunk base upward. Support saw with trunk, cut with pulling chain (lower bar side).
  3. Bucking: Support log properly. Use top of bar for cutting, avoid ground contact.
  4. Kickback Prevention: Hold saw firmly, do not cut with bar tip, maintain high chain speed when cutting.

WARNING! Never cut above shoulder height. Beware of tension in wood (spring poles).

Maintenance Schedule

IntervalTask
Daily/Before UseCheck chain tension, sharpness, and lubrication. Check all controls and safety devices.
Weekly/10 HoursClean air filter, check spark plug, clean cooling fins, check fuel filter.
Monthly/50 HoursClean spark arrestor screen, check carburetor adjustment, clean chain brake mechanism.
Annually/100 HoursReplace fuel filter, check anti-vibration elements, professional inspection recommended.

CAUTION! Always disconnect spark plug wire before performing maintenance.

Chain Sharpening & Tensioning

Sharpening: Use 4.0 mm (5/32") round file with guide. Maintain 30° top plate cutting angle and 10° down angle. File all cutters to equal length. Check depth gauges with gauge tool (0.65 mm / 0.025").

Tensioning: Loosen bar nuts, adjust tensioning screw until chain snaps back when pulled from bar. Tighten bar nuts (snug, not over-tightened). Re-check tension when chain is warm.

Tip: Sharpen chain frequently - a sharp chain reduces effort and improves safety.

Storage Guidelines

For storage over 30 days:

  1. Empty fuel tank and run engine until it stops.
  2. Remove chain, clean and soak in oil.
  3. Clean entire saw, especially cooling fins and air filter.
  4. Remove spark plug, add 1 teaspoon of oil to cylinder, pull starter 2-3 times, reinstall plug.
  5. Store in dry, cool place, protected from dust.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in tank for extended periods - fuel deteriorates and can damage engine.
