Safety Instructions

Read and understand all instructions before use. Always wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  1. PPE: Always wear safety helmet, hearing protection, protective glasses, gloves, and chainsaw protective pants and boots.
  2. Work Area: Keep bystanders, children, and animals at a safe distance (at least 15 meters).
  3. Fuel Safety: Refuel outdoors only, with engine stopped and cool. Wipe off any spillage.
  4. Kickback Zone: Be aware of the upper quadrant of the guide bar tip. Do not let this part contact wood or other objects.
  5. Carrying: Always carry the saw with the engine stopped, guide bar and chain to the rear, and the chain cover fitted.

WARNING! A chainsaw is a dangerous tool if used incorrectly. Improper use can cause serious or fatal injury.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble the guide bar and chain.

  1. Mount the guide bar: Loosen the bar nuts, fit the bar onto the bar studs, ensuring the chain tensioning pin engages in the bar's hole.
  2. Fit the chain: Place the chain over the bar sprocket and onto the guide bar, ensuring cutting teeth face forward on the top of the bar.
  3. Tension the chain: Use the side-mounted tensioner to adjust. Correct tension is when the chain snaps back after being pulled away from the bar.
  4. Fill fluids: Add high-quality 2-stroke engine oil to the chain oil tank and a pre-mixed fuel/oil mixture (50:1 ratio recommended) to the fuel tank.

CAUTION! Ensure the chain brake is disengaged (pulled back towards the front handle) before starting.

Technical Specifications

Controls and Components

Familiarize yourself with all controls before starting the engine.

Main Components: Front Handle, Rear Handle, Throttle Trigger, Throttle Trigger Lockout, Stop Switch, Combined Choke/Stop Control, Chain Brake Lever, Chain Catcher, Side-Mounted Chain Tensioner, Air Filter Cover, Fuel Tank Cap, Oil Tank Cap.

Operation: The throttle trigger lockout must be pressed before the throttle trigger can be activated. The chain brake lever, when pushed forward (towards the bar), engages the brake. Pulling it back towards the front handle disengages it.

Starting & Stopping

Always start the chainsaw on the ground or a firm surface.

  1. Cold Start: Engage the chain brake. Press the decompression valve (if equipped). Set the combined control to choke position (full up). Pull the starter handle until the engine fires. Set the control to half-throttle position (middle). Pull again to start. Blip the throttle to disengage start setting.
  2. Warm Start: Set the combined control to half-throttle position (middle). Pull the starter handle to start.
  3. Stopping: Release the throttle trigger and allow the engine to idle. Press the stop switch to "0" or "STOP".

Tip: Always hold the rear handle firmly against the ground with your right foot when starting.

Basic Operation

Use a firm grip with both hands. Maintain good balance and footing.

  1. Felling: Plan escape path (45-degree angle to the rear). Make notch cut and felling cut. Use a wedge if necessary.
  2. Limbing: Stand on the left side of the trunk. Let the chain cut using its own weight. Beware of springback.
  3. Bucking: Support logs properly. Cut from top down whenever possible. Beware of binding.
  4. Kickback Prevention: Always hold saw firmly with both hands. Do not cut with the tip. Keep the chain sharp and properly tensioned.

WARNING! Never operate the chainsaw above shoulder height or with one hand.

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance is essential for safety and performance.

IntervalTask
Daily / Before UseCheck chain tension, sharpness, and lubrication. Check all controls and safety devices. Check for loose nuts/screws. Clean air filter.
Weekly / 10 HoursClean cooling fins on cylinder. Clean exterior of spark plug. Check fuel filter.
Monthly / 50 HoursReplace spark plug. Clean carburetor air filter (replace if necessary). Check/replace fuel filter. Clean chain brake band and clutch drum.
As NeededSharpen chain. Replace guide bar (when groove is worn). Replace drive sprocket.

Chain & Bar Care

A sharp and well-lubricated chain is crucial.

  1. Sharpening: Use a round file and file guide matching the chain pitch. Maintain the original cutting angle (typically 30°). File all cutters to the same length.
  2. Depth Gauges: File down depth gauges (rakers) with a flat file and gauge tool to maintain correct height difference (approx. 0.025" / 0.65 mm).
  3. Bar Maintenance: Clean the bar groove regularly. Flip the bar weekly for even wear. File down any burrs on the bar rails.
  4. Lubrication: Always use high-quality biodegradable chain oil. Check oil flow by running the saw at speed near a light surface; a line of oil should appear.

CAUTION! Always wear gloves when handling the chain.

Storage

Prepare the chainsaw for storage if it will not be used for more than 30 days.

  1. Clean the entire saw thoroughly.
  2. Empty the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops to clear the carburetor.
  3. Remove the chain and guide bar. Clean and oil them, then store separately.
  4. Remove the spark plug. Pour a teaspoon of engine oil into the cylinder. Pull the starter cord slowly to distribute oil, then refit the plug.
  5. Store in a dry, clean, and secure place, out of reach of children.

Tip: Use fuel stabilizer if you cannot empty the fuel system completely.
