Safety Instructions

Read and understand all instructions before operation. Always wear appropriate PPE.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment: Wear safety helmet, hearing protection, eye protection, gloves, chainsaw protective trousers, and boots.
  2. Work area safety: Keep bystanders and animals at least 15 meters away. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Kickback awareness: Hold saw firmly with both hands. Do not cut with tip of bar. Be aware of kickback zone.
  4. Fuel safety: Refuel outdoors only, with engine stopped and cool. Wipe off spills.

WARNING! A chainsaw is a dangerous tool if misused. Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or death.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble guide bar and chain.

  1. Mounting the guide bar: Loosen bar nuts. Fit bar over studs, ensuring tensioning pin engages in bar hole.
  2. Fitting the chain: Place chain over sprocket and onto bar groove. Ensure cutting teeth face forward on top of bar.
  3. Tensioning the chain: Lift tip of bar. Tighten bar nuts hand-tight. Adjust tension with screw until chain snaps back when pulled from bar. Tighten bar nuts fully.
  4. Fuel and oil: Mix high-quality 2-stroke oil with unleaded gasoline (min 90 octane) at 50:1 ratio (2%). Fill fuel and chain oil tanks.

CAUTION! Always check chain tension before use and when saw is cold. A loose chain can derail; an overtightened chain can damage the saw.

Technical Specifications

Controls and Components

Main controls located on the rear handle and body.

Right side: Throttle trigger, Throttle trigger lockout, Stop switch (On/Off). Left side: Chain brake lever (front hand guard), Decompression valve (if equipped), Choke control. Top: Air filter cover, Spark plug cover. Rear: Rear handle with anti-vibration mounts, Fuel and oil tank caps.

Chain brake: Manually activated by pushing front hand guard forward; inertia-activated during kickback. Master control lever: Combines choke, start, and run positions (Cold start, Start, Run).

Starting & Stopping

Starting (Cold Engine):

  1. Place saw on firm ground. Engage chain brake.
  2. Press decompression valve (if equipped).
  3. Set master control lever to choke position (full left).
  4. Press primer bulb 4-6 times until fuel is visible.
  5. Pull starter handle until engine fires (usually 1-3 pulls).
  6. Move master control lever to start/half-throttle position.
  7. Pull starter handle again until engine starts. Let engine run briefly.
  8. Disengage chain brake. Saw is ready.

Starting (Warm Engine): Start from half-throttle position (no choke).

Stopping: Release throttle. Press stop switch to "0" or "Off" position.

Operating Instructions

Basic cutting techniques for felling, limbing, and bucking.

  1. Firm grip: Hold front handle with left hand, rear handle with right hand. Thumb under handle.
  2. Starting a cut: Apply full throttle before chain touches wood.
  3. Felling: Use proper notch and back cut techniques. Plan escape path.
  4. Limbing: Stand on left side of trunk. Let chain do the work; avoid pushing.
  5. Bucking: Support log properly. Beware of tension and compression wood.
  6. Kickback prevention: Never cut with upper quadrant of bar tip. Maintain secure grip.

WARNING! Never operate saw above shoulder height or with one hand. Be constantly aware of kickback danger.

Maintenance Schedule

IntervalTask
Daily / Before useCheck chain tension, sharpness, and lubrication. Check all nuts and bolts. Clean air filter. Check for damage.
Weekly / 10 hoursClean cooling fins. Clean spark plug. Check fuel filter. Clean exterior of saw.
Monthly / 50 hoursReplace spark plug. Clean carburetor air filter (replace if damaged). Check anti-vibration elements.
Yearly / 100 hoursReplace fuel filter. Clean carburetor (if performance issues). Check clutch and sprocket.

Always use genuine Husqvarna spare parts.

Chain Sharpening & Tensioning

A sharp, properly tensioned chain is essential for safety and performance.

  1. Sharpening: Use correct round file size (typically 4.0mm or 5/32" for 3/8" chain). File at 30° angle. File all cutters to equal length. File depth gauges with flat file.
  2. Tensioning: Chain should be snug against bar but pull freely by hand. Adjust tension screw with bar tip lifted. Tighten bar nuts after adjustment. Re-check tension when saw is cold.
  3. Lubrication: Ensure chain oil tank is filled with high-quality bar and chain oil. Check oil flow by running saw at full throttle over light surface (should produce oil line).

Tip: Rotate the bar regularly to ensure even wear.

Storage Guidelines

For storage longer than 30 days.

  1. Empty fuel tank and run carburetor dry.
  2. Remove chain and bar. Clean and oil them. Store separately.
  3. Clean entire saw thoroughly.
  4. Remove spark plug. Pour a teaspoon of engine oil into cylinder. Pull starter cord slowly to distribute oil. Refit spark plug.
  5. Store in a dry, cool place, protected from dust.

CAUTION! Never store saw with fuel in the tank for extended periods. Old fuel can damage carburetor components.
