Safety Information

Read and understand all safety instructions before operation. Always wear appropriate PPE.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear chainsaw protective pants, safety helmet with visor and hearing protection, gloves, and safety boots.
  2. Work Area Safety: Keep bystanders and pets at least 15m away. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Fuel Safety: Refuel outdoors with engine stopped and cool. Use clean, fresh fuel mix.
  4. Kickback Awareness: Be aware of kickback zone (upper quadrant of bar nose). Use reduced-kickback chain and maintain proper chain tension.
  5. Chain Brake: Test chain brake function before each use.

WARNING! Improper use can cause serious or fatal injury. Never operate when tired or under influence.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble guide bar and chain, fill with fuel and oil.

  1. Attach guide bar and chain: Place bar on studs, loop chain around sprocket and bar, adjust tension.
  2. Fill chain oil: Use recommended bar and chain oil. Check oiler function.
  3. Prepare fuel mix: Use 50:1 mixture of unleaded gasoline (min 90 octane) and Husqvarna 2-stroke oil.
  4. Check controls: Ensure throttle trigger, throttle lockout, and stop switch function properly.

CAUTION! Ensure chain is properly tensioned and moves freely before starting.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Familiarize yourself with all controls before operation.

Main Controls: Front handle with chain brake, rear handle with throttle trigger, throttle lockout, stop switch, combined choke/stop control, primer bulb (if equipped), and decompression valve.

Components: Cylinder cover, air filter, spark plug, muffler, fuel tank cap, oil tank cap, chain catcher, and spark arrestor screen.

Chain Brake: Manual activation via front hand guard; inertia-activated during kickback.

Starting & Stopping

Follow proper starting procedure to avoid injury and damage.

  1. Cold Start: Place on flat ground. Activate chain brake. Set choke control to choke position. Press decompression valve (if equipped). Pull starter handle until engine fires. Move choke to run position. Pull to start.
  2. Warm Start: Follow same procedure but with choke in run position.
  3. Stopping: Release throttle. Press stop switch. Engage chain brake when not in use.

Tip: Never drop-start the chainsaw. Always start on ground with secure footing.

Operating Instructions

Proper technique ensures safety and efficiency.

  1. Grip: Hold front handle with left hand, rear handle with right hand. Thumbs wrapped around handles.
  2. Stance: Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, left foot slightly forward.
  3. Cutting: Let chain do the work; avoid forcing. Use appropriate cutting techniques (felling, limbing, bucking).
  4. Kickback Prevention: Never cut with upper quadrant of bar nose. Maintain firm grip.
  5. Chain Lubrication: Check oil flow regularly. Adjust oiler if needed.

WARNING! Never operate above shoulder height or with one hand. Always be aware of kickback danger.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.

  1. Daily: Clean air filter, check chain tension and sharpness, clean cooling fins, check all nuts and bolts.
  2. Weekly: Clean spark arrestor screen, check spark plug, clean fuel filter.
  3. Monthly: Check anti-vibration elements, clean carburetor air intake, inspect guide bar for wear.
  4. Annually: Have professional service performed, including cylinder and piston inspection.

CAUTION! Always disconnect spark plug wire before performing maintenance.

Chain Sharpening & Tensioning

Proper chain maintenance is critical for performance and safety.

  1. Tensioning: Loosen bar nuts. Adjust tensioning screw until chain fits snugly against bar but can be pulled around by hand. Tighten bar nuts.
  2. Sharpening: Use round file matching chain pitch (typically 4.0mm). Maintain 30° cutting angle and 10° top plate angle. File all cutters to equal length.
  3. Depth Gauge: Check and file depth gauges with flat file. Maintain 0.025" (0.65mm) below cutting edge.

Tip: Rotate bar regularly to ensure even wear. Replace chain when stretched beyond adjustment.

Storage

Proper storage prevents damage and starting problems.

  1. Clean entire chainsaw thoroughly.
  2. Drain fuel tank and run engine until carburetor is empty.
  3. Remove chain and bar; clean and oil them.
  4. Store in dry, cool place away from ignition sources.
  5. For long-term storage, remove spark plug and add teaspoon of oil to cylinder.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in tank for more than 30 days. Use fuel stabilizer if needed.
