Safety Information

Read and understand all instructions before operation. Always wear appropriate PPE.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear chainsaw protective pants, safety glasses, hearing protection, helmet with face shield, and gloves.
  2. Work Area Safety: Keep bystanders and pets at least 15 meters away. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Kickback Zone: Avoid contact with the upper quadrant of the guide bar tip.
  4. Chain Brake: Test function before each use. Never operate with a defective chain brake.
  5. Fuel Safety: Refuel in a well-ventilated area with engine off and cool. Use fuel mix as specified.

WARNING! Chainsaws are dangerous tools. Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or death.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble guide bar and chain.

  1. Attach guide bar and chain: Place bar on mounting studs. Fit chain around bar sprocket and guide bar. Ensure cutting teeth face forward on top of bar.
  2. Tension chain: Use side-mounted tensioner to adjust until chain fits snugly against bar but can be pulled around by hand.
  3. Fill with fuel: Use fresh, high-quality gasoline mixed with 2-stroke oil at a 50:1 ratio (2%). Shake container well before filling.
  4. Fill chain oil: Use Husqvarna chain oil or equivalent. Check oil level before each use.

CAUTION! Ensure chain brake is disengaged (pulled back towards front handle) before starting.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main components: Front Handle, Rear Handle, Throttle Trigger, Throttle Trigger Lockout, Stop Switch, Choke Control, Chain Brake Lever, Decompression Valve (if equipped), Fuel Cap, Oil Cap, Air Filter Cover, Spark Plug.

Operation: Throttle Trigger Lockout must be depressed before throttle can be engaged. Chain Brake Lever (front hand guard) can be engaged manually (pushed forward) or automatically by inertia.

Starting & Stopping

Cold Start:

  1. Place saw on flat ground. Engage chain brake.
  2. Press decompression valve (if equipped).
  3. Set choke control to full choke position.
  4. Press throttle trigger lockout and pull throttle trigger. Set stop switch to start position.
  5. Pull starter handle until engine fires (usually 3-5 pulls).
  6. Move choke control to half-throttle position.
  7. Pull starter handle again until engine starts. Let engine idle for 10-15 seconds.
  8. Disengage chain brake by pulling hand guard back towards front handle.

Warm Start: Do not use choke. Follow steps 1, 4, 7, and 8.

Stopping: Release throttle and allow engine to idle. Press stop switch to "0" or "STOP".

Operating Instructions

Always use a firm grip with both hands.

  1. Basic Cutting: Let the chain do the work. Apply light pressure. Do not force the saw.
  2. Felling Trees: Plan escape path. Make notch cut and felling cut. Use wedges if necessary.
  3. Limbing: Cut branches from bottom to top. Stand on left side of trunk.
  4. Bucking: Support log properly. Cut from top unless log is under tension.
  5. Kickback Prevention: Maintain secure grip. Do not cut with bar tip. Keep chain sharp and properly tensioned.

WARNING! Never operate chainsaw above shoulder height or with one hand.

Maintenance Schedule

IntervalTask
Daily / Before UseCheck chain tension, sharpness, and lubrication. Check fuel and oil levels. Inspect for loose parts or damage.
Every 5 hoursClean air filter. Check spark plug condition.
Every 10 hoursClean cooling fins. Check fuel filter.
Every 20 hoursClean spark arrestor screen (if equipped).
Every 50 hoursReplace fuel filter. Clean carburetor air intake.
Annually / End of SeasonProfessional servicing recommended. Replace spark plug.

Chain Sharpening & Tensioning

A sharp, properly tensioned chain is essential for safety and performance.

  1. Tensioning: Loosen bar nuts. Turn tensioning screw clockwise until chain fits snugly against bar but can be pulled around by hand. Tighten bar nuts while lifting bar tip.
  2. Sharpening: Use a round file matching chain pitch (typically 4.0 mm). File each cutter at a 30° angle. Maintain equal length on all cutters. File depth gauges with a flat file.

CAUTION! Always wear gloves when handling chain. Ensure saw is off and cool.

Storage

For storage longer than 30 days:

  1. Drain fuel tank and run engine until it stops to empty carburetor.
  2. Remove chain and guide bar. Clean and oil them.
  3. Clean entire saw, especially cooling fins and air filter.
  4. Store in a dry, cool place, protected from dust.

Tip: Apply a light coat of oil to the cylinder by removing spark plug and adding a teaspoon of oil, then pulling starter cord slowly a few times.
