Safety Information

Read and understand all instructions before use. Always wear appropriate PPE.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear chainsaw chaps, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
  2. Work Area Safety: Keep bystanders and pets at least 15 feet away. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Kickback Zone: Avoid contact with the upper quarter of the guide bar tip.
  4. Fuel Safety: Refuel outdoors, away from ignition sources. Use fresh fuel mix (50:1).
  5. Chain Brake: Test before each use by pulling the hand guard forward.

WARNING! Kickback can cause severe injury. Always hold the saw firmly with both hands.

Assembly & First Use

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble guide bar and chain.

  1. Attach Guide Bar & Chain: Remove side cover, fit bar, loop chain over sprocket and bar, ensure cutting teeth face forward.
  2. Tension Chain: Use side tensioner to achieve proper tension (chain should snap back when pulled from bar).
  3. Fill Fuel & Oil: Use Husqvarna 2-stroke oil mixed 50:1 with unleaded gasoline (min 89 octane). Fill chain oil reservoir with bar & chain oil.
  4. Pre-Start Check: Verify chain brake disengaged, chain moves freely, all fasteners tight.

CAUTION! Never operate without bar and chain oil. Running dry will damage bar and chain.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main components: Front handle with throttle trigger, rear handle, chain brake/hand guard, throttle trigger lockout, choke/stop control, primer bulb, master control lever.

Master Control Lever: Combines choke, start, and run positions.

Chain Brake: Manual activation via hand guard; inertia-activated during kickback.

Throttle Trigger Lockout: Must be depressed before throttle can be engaged.

Side Chain Tensioner: Adjust chain tension without tools.

Starting & Stopping

Cold Start:

  1. Place saw on firm ground. Engage chain brake.
  2. Press primer bulb 6-8 times.
  3. Set master control lever to choke position.
  4. Pull starter cord until engine fires (1-3 pulls).
  5. Move lever to run position. Pull cord to start.

Warm Start: Set lever to run position. Pull cord.

Stopping: Release throttle. Move master control lever to stop position.

Tip: Always engage chain brake when starting or carrying saw.

Operating Instructions

Proper cutting techniques ensure safety and efficiency.

  1. Felling: Plan escape path. Make notch cut, then felling cut. Use wedges if needed.
  2. Limbing: Stand uphill. Cut from top of log, supporting limb when possible.
  3. Bucking: Support log. Cut from top, avoid pinching chain.
  4. Kickback Prevention: Hold saw firmly, don't overreach, maintain balance.
  5. Chain Speed: Maintain full throttle during cuts. Let chain do the work.

WARNING! Never cut above shoulder height. Be aware of reactive forces.

Maintenance Schedule

IntervalTask
Daily/Before UseCheck chain tension, sharpness, brake function; clean air filter; inspect for damage
WeeklyClean cooling fins; check spark plug; clean fuel filter
MonthlyClean carburetor air intake; check all fasteners; lubricate clutch bearing
SeasonallyReplace spark plug; clean muffler; inspect anti-vibration elements
As NeededSharpen chain; replace bar; replace chain

CAUTION! Always disconnect spark plug before performing maintenance.

Chain Sharpening & Tensioning

Proper chain maintenance ensures optimal cutting and safety.

  1. Sharpening: Use round file matching chain pitch (5/32" for 3/8" chain). File at 30° angle. Equalize strokes on all cutters.
  2. Depth Gauges: File down to 0.025" below cutter edge using depth gauge tool.
  3. Tensioning: Loosen bar nuts. Adjust side tensioner until chain snaps back when pulled from bar. Tighten bar nuts.
  4. Checking Wear: Measure drive links. Replace chain when stretched 0.5% beyond new length.

Tip: Sharpen chain frequently (every 1-2 tanks of fuel) for best performance.

Storage Guidelines

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and corrosion.

  1. Short-term (1-2 months): Fill fuel tank with fresh mix. Run engine to distribute oil.
  2. Long-term: Drain fuel completely. Run engine until it stops. Remove spark plug, add 1 tsp oil, pull cord slowly to coat cylinder.
  3. Clean entire saw. Remove chain, clean in solvent, coat with oil. Store in dry place.
  4. Hang saw or store flat to prevent bar warping.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in tank for more than 30 days.
