Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect all contents. Assemble on a clean, stable surface.

  1. Attach Guide Bar and Chain: Place bar on sprocket, fit chain over bar and drive sprocket, adjust tension using side screw.
  2. Fill Fluids: Add Husqvarna 2-stroke engine oil mixed with unleaded gasoline (50:1 ratio) to fuel tank. Fill bar/chain oil tank with special chain oil.
  3. Install Battery (if electric start model): Insert and secure battery.
  4. Check All Fasteners: Ensure all nuts, bolts, and screws are tight.

WARNING! Always wear protective gloves when handling the saw chain. Chain is extremely sharp.

First-Time Operation

Perform pre-start checks before first use.

  1. Check Chain Tension: Chain should be snug against bar but pull freely by hand.
  2. Check Chain Brake: Engage and disengage brake to ensure proper function.
  3. Start the Engine: Place on ground, set chain brake, set master control to choke, pull starter cord until engine fires, set to half-throttle, pull to start.
  4. Warm Up: Allow engine to idle for 30 seconds before cutting.

CAUTION! Never start the saw unless the bar, chain, and all covers are properly fitted.

Safe Operation Procedures

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Required: Helmet with face screen and hearing protection, chainsaw protective gloves, protective legwear (chaps), and sturdy boots.

  1. Clear Work Area: Remove debris, plan escape path.
  2. Secure Workpiece: Never hold with your hand or leg.
  3. Proper Stance: Stand firmly with feet apart.
  4. Start Safely: On ground with chain brake engaged.
  5. Beware of Kickback: Do not cut with nose of bar. Hold saw firmly.
  6. Never Cut Above Shoulder Height.

Tip: Let the saw do the work; do not force it.

Maintenance Schedule

Daily or Before Each Use:

  1. Check chain tension and sharpness.
  2. Check chain brake function.
  3. Check all fasteners for tightness.
  4. Clean air filter (more often in dusty conditions).
  5. Check fuel and oil levels.

Weekly or Every 10 Operating Hours:

  1. Clean cooling fins on cylinder.
  2. Clean spark arrestor screen (if equipped).
  3. Check spark plug condition and gap.
  4. Clean exterior of saw.

WARNING! Always disconnect spark plug wire before performing maintenance.

Chain & Bar Care

Chain Sharpening: Use correct round file size (typically 5/32" or 3/16"). Maintain correct filing angle (typically 30°). File all cutters to equal length. Check depth gauges and lower if necessary.

Bar Maintenance: Clean bar groove regularly. Flip bar weekly for even wear. Lubricate sprocket nose hole.

CAUTION! A dull or poorly maintained chain increases risk of kickback and operator fatigue.

Storage

Long-Term Storage (Over 30 Days):

  1. Empty fuel tank and run carburetor dry.
  2. Remove chain, clean, and soak in oil.
  3. Clean entire saw thoroughly.
  4. Remove spark plug, add a teaspoon of oil, pull starter 2-3 times, reinstall plug.
  5. Store in a dry, cool place, protected from dust.

CAUTION! Fuel left in the carburetor will evaporate and leave gum deposits, causing starting problems.
