Safety Instructions

Read all instructions before use. Wear appropriate safety gear.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, sturdy boots, and cut-resistant leg protection.
  2. Work Area Safety: Keep bystanders and pets at a safe distance. Ensure stable footing and clear of obstacles.
  3. Electrical Safety: For corded models, use a grounded outlet and keep cord away from cutting area. For battery models, use only Husqvarna-approved batteries and charger.
  4. Kickback Prevention: Hold saw firmly with both hands. Do not cut with tip of bar. Be aware of kickback zone.
  5. Chain Brake: Test chain brake before each use by pushing front hand guard forward.

WARNING! Never operate chainsaw with one hand. Keep hands away from moving chain. Do not operate while tired or under influence.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assemble according to instructions.

  1. Attach Guide Bar and Chain: Place bar onto saw, fit chain around bar and sprocket with cutting teeth facing forward. Adjust tension.
  2. Fill Oil Tank: Use only Husqvarna chain oil or equivalent. Fill to MAX line.
  3. Battery Installation (if applicable): Insert charged battery until it clicks. Check charge indicator.
  4. Cord Connection (corded models): Plug into grounded 120V outlet. Use extension cord rated for outdoor use if needed.
  5. Chain Tension Adjustment: Use tool-less adjuster to set proper tension (chain should snap back when pulled from bar).

CAUTION! Ensure chain is properly installed and tensioned before operation to prevent derailment or damage.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main Controls: On/Off trigger switch with safety lock, chain brake lever (front hand guard), oil pump adjustment screw, chain tensioner knob.

Components: Motor housing, guide bar, saw chain, chain catcher, sprocket cover, rear handle with trigger, front handle, oil filler cap, battery compartment/cord entry.

Operation: Press safety lock and squeeze trigger to start. Release trigger to stop. Push front hand guard forward to engage chain brake. Adjust oil flow via screw near oil tank (clockwise to decrease, counterclockwise to increase).

Operation Guide

Starting and Basic Cutting Techniques.

  1. Pre-Start Check: Ensure chain brake is disengaged, chain is properly tensioned, oil tank is full, area is clear.
  2. Starting: For corded models, plug in. For battery models, ensure battery is inserted and charged. Press safety lock and squeeze trigger.
  3. Cutting: Use lower part of bar for cutting. Let chain do the work; do not force. For bucking (cutting logs on ground), support log properly.
  4. Limbing: Cut branches from bottom up when possible. Beware of spring-back.
  5. Pruning: Make undercut first, then top cut to avoid bark tearing.
  6. Stopping: Release trigger. Engage chain brake when not in use or carrying.

Tip: Regularly check oil flow by pointing bar at a light surface and running saw briefly; look for oil line.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Unplug cord or remove battery before any maintenance.

  1. Daily Cleaning: Use brush to remove sawdust from air vents, bar groove, and sprocket cover.
  2. Chain Lubrication: Check oil level before each use. Refill with proper chain oil.
  3. Air Filter (if applicable): Clean periodically with compressed air or brush.
  4. Bar Maintenance: Clean bar groove and oil holes. Flip bar periodically for even wear.
  5. General Inspection: Check for loose screws, damaged parts, or worn chain.

CAUTION! Never use gasoline or harsh solvents for cleaning. Keep motor vents clear of debris.

Chain Sharpening & Replacement

Sharp chain ensures efficient and safe cutting.

  1. Sharpening: Use round file matching chain pitch (e.g., 5/32" for 3/8" LP). File each cutter at recommended angle (typically 30°). Maintain equal length on all cutters.
  2. Depth Gauge Setting: Use depth gauge tool to file down rakers to proper height below cutters.
  3. Chain Replacement: When cutters are worn beyond repair or damaged, replace chain. Match pitch, gauge, and drive link count to bar.
  4. Bar Replacement: If bar is excessively worn or damaged, replace with Husqvarna-approved guide bar.

WARNING! Always wear gloves when handling chain. Ensure saw is disconnected from power.

Storage

Proper storage prolongs tool life.

  1. Clean saw thoroughly before storage.
  2. Remove battery (if applicable) and store separately in cool, dry place.
  3. Drain oil tank or top off to prevent moisture accumulation.
  4. Store in dry location, out of reach of children.
  5. Cover bar and chain with protective sheath or coat with oil to prevent rust.

CAUTION! Do not store with battery inserted for extended periods. Avoid extreme temperatures.
