Safety Information

Read and understand all safety instructions before operating. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

  1. Clear mowing area of debris, toys, and obstacles before starting.
  2. Never carry passengers. The mower is designed for one operator only.
  3. Do not mow on slopes greater than 15 degrees. Mow up and down slopes, not across.
  4. Engage parking brake, disengage PTO, and turn off engine before leaving operator's position.
  5. Keep hands and feet away from moving parts and the discharge chute.

DANGER! Gasoline is highly flammable. Refuel outdoors in a well-ventilated area with the engine off and cool. Do not smoke near fuel.

Assembly & Setup

Unpack and inspect all parts against the packing list. Assembly requires basic tools.

  1. Install the steering control levers (lap bars) onto the control panel as per diagram.
  2. Attach the seat by aligning and bolting to the seat plate.
  3. Connect the battery cables (red to positive, black to negative).
  4. Check tire pressure and inflate to recommended PSI (listed in Specifications).
  5. Perform initial engine oil check and add oil if necessary (see Engine Care).
  6. Add fresh, unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87.

NOTE: Retain all packaging until assembly is complete to ensure no parts are missing.

Controls & Operation

Familiarize yourself with all controls before starting the engine.

Control Panel: Ignition Key, PTO Switch, Choke, Throttle, Hour Meter.

Steering Controls: Move both lap bars forward evenly to go straight forward. To turn, move the lap bar on the side opposite the desired direction forward while slowing or reversing the other. To zero-turn, move one forward and the other fully back.

Starting Procedure: 1. Sit on seat. 2. Engage parking brake. 3. Disengage PTO. 4. Set throttle to halfway. 5. Turn key to START. Release when engine starts.

Mowing: Engage PTO at full throttle. Adjust ground speed using lap bars. For best cut, overlap mowing passes.

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance is crucial for safety and performance. Refer to engine manual for specific engine service.

Interval (Hours)Task
Before each useCheck engine oil level, tire pressure, and for loose hardware.
First 5Change engine oil (break-in). Check belt tension.
Every 50Change engine oil and filter. Service air filter. Grease fittings.
Every 100Change hydrostatic transmission fluid and filter (if equipped).
Every 25 (or season)Sharpen/replace mower blades. Check spindle bearings.
SeasonallyLubricate control linkages. Check battery charge.

Engine Care

Use only recommended oil type and viscosity (SAE 10W-30 is typical).

  1. Oil Change: Run engine to warm oil. Disconnect spark plug wire. Drain oil via drain plug into pan. Refill with correct amount.
  2. Air Filter: Replace paper element or clean foam pre-cleaner regularly. Service more often in dusty conditions.
  3. Spark Plug: Check gap and condition every 100 hours. Replace if electrodes are worn.
  4. Fuel System: Use fuel stabilizer if storing over 30 days. Replace fuel filter annually.

WARNING! Engine components become extremely hot during operation. Allow engine to cool completely before performing any maintenance.

Deck Adjustment & Blade Care

A level deck is essential for an even cut.

  1. Park on a level surface. Set cutting height lever to desired position.
  2. Measure distance from blade tip to ground at all four corners of the deck.
  3. Adjust deck hanger links to level the deck (front slightly lower than rear by 1/8" to 1/4" is recommended for proper discharge).
  4. Blade Sharpening/Replacement: Disconnect spark plug wire. Safely block deck. Remove blade bolt (note orientation). Sharpen blade evenly, maintaining balance. Replace if cracked or excessively worn.
  5. Use the deck wash port after each mowing to prevent grass buildup.

Storage & Off-Season Care

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and corrosion.

  1. Add fuel stabilizer to gas tank and run engine for 5 minutes to circulate.
  2. Change engine oil and filter at the end of the season.
  3. Remove battery, clean terminals, and store in a cool, dry place on a trickle charger.
  4. Thoroughly clean the mower deck and underside. Lubricate all grease points.
  5. Store in a clean, dry place, preferably covered.

CAUTION! Never store the mower with fuel in the tank indoors or in an enclosed area without proper ventilation.
