Pre-Ride Inspection

Always perform a pre-ride check before operating the motorcycle.

  1. Fuel: Check fuel level and ensure no leaks.
  2. Engine Oil: Check two-stroke oil level in separate tank.
  3. Tires: Inspect for damage and verify correct pressure.
  4. Brakes: Test front and rear brake operation and fluid level.
  5. Chain: Check tension and lubrication.
  6. Controls: Verify throttle, clutch, and brake levers function smoothly.
  7. Fasteners: Ensure all critical bolts are tight.
  8. Lights: Test headlight, taillight, and brake light.

WARNING! Never ride with faulty brakes, tires, or controls. Inspect thoroughly each time.

Controls and Instrumentation

Familiarize yourself with all controls before riding.

Left Handlebar: Clutch lever, horn button, map switch (two engine maps), light switch.

Right Handlebar: Front brake lever, throttle, electric start button, kill switch.

Instrument Panel: Digital display showing speedometer, odometer, tripmeter, clock, fuel warning light, and diagnostic codes.

Other Controls: Kickstarter lever, gear shift lever, rear brake pedal, fuel tap, choke knob.

Specifications

Operation and Riding

Starting the engine: Ensure transmission is in neutral. Turn fuel tap ON. Pull choke knob if cold. Press electric start button or use kickstarter. Allow engine to warm up.

Riding Tips: Use appropriate gear for terrain. The map switch allows selection between a standard and a softer power curve for slippery conditions. Practice braking and clutch control off-road. Always wear appropriate protective gear.

Shutdown: Turn off engine with kill switch. Turn fuel tap OFF if storing for more than a few days.

Routine Maintenance

Follow the maintenance schedule in the manual. Key intervals:

  1. After every ride: Clean air filter if dusty, check chain tension and lubricate.
  2. Every 10 hours: Change engine oil (transmission side), check brake pads, inspect spokes.
  3. Every 30 hours: Clean carburetor, check valve clearance (power valve), replace spark plug.
  4. Every 100 hours: Replace brake fluid, check wheel bearings and suspension linkage.

CAUTION! Use only genuine Husqvarna parts and recommended lubricants.

Fuel and Lubrication

Fuel: Use unleaded premium gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 95 RON. Mix with high-quality two-stroke oil in the separate oil tank (oil injection system). Do not pre-mix fuel for the TE 300.

Two-Stroke Oil: Use Husqvarna recommended two-stroke injection oil. Check oil level before each ride and refill as needed.

Transmission Oil: Use specific 4-stroke engine oil (e.g., SAE 10W-50) for the gearbox. Change every 15 operating hours or as specified.

Tip: Never run the engine without two-stroke oil in the separate tank, as severe engine damage will occur.

Chassis and Suspension

Frame: Inspect for cracks or damage after hard impacts. Suspension: Adjust compression and rebound damping to suit rider weight and terrain. Refer to manual for baseline settings. Wheels and Tires: Use appropriate off-road tires for terrain. Maintain correct tire pressure (typically 12-14 PSI for off-road).

Storage and Winterization

If storing for more than 30 days:

  1. Drain fuel from carburetor and tank, or add fuel stabilizer.
  2. Change engine oil (transmission).
  3. Remove battery and store on a tender.
  4. Clean motorcycle thoroughly.
  5. Inflate tires to correct pressure and store off the ground.
  6. Lubricate chain and pivot points.

CAUTION! Storing with ethanol-blended fuel can damage the fuel system. Drain or stabilize.

Safety Information

Always wear a DOT/ECE approved helmet, eye protection, gloves, boots, and body armor. Never ride under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Ride within your skill limits and be aware of changing terrain. This motorcycle is designed for off-road use only and is not legal for public roads unless modified and registered according to local laws.
