  2. Clear the mowing area of debris, toys, rocks, and other objects before starting.
  3. Never allow children or untrained persons to operate the mower.
  4. Do not mow on slopes greater than 15 degrees; mow up and down slopes, not across.
  5. Stop the engine and wait for all moving parts to stop before dismounting or performing maintenance.

WARNING! Gasoline is flammable. Refuel outdoors in a well-ventilated area with the engine off and cool. Do not smoke near fuel.

Assembly & Setup

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assembly requires basic tools.

  1. Install the steering wheel: Align and tighten securely.
  2. Attach the seat: Mount using provided bolts and washers.
  3. Connect the battery: Attach cables (red to positive, black to negative).
  4. Check tire pressure: Inflate to recommended PSI (see Specifications).
  5. Add engine oil and fuel: Use types specified in the manual.
  6. Perform pre-operation checks: Inspect blades, belts, and controls.

CAUTION! Ensure all bolts and connections are tight before first use.

Controls & Operation

Familiarize yourself with all controls before starting the engine.

Control Panel: Ignition key, PTO switch, throttle control, choke, hour meter, headlight switch.

Operation Steps:

  1. Park on level ground, set parking brake, and ensure PTO is disengaged.
  2. Adjust throttle to fast position, engage choke if engine is cold.
  3. Turn ignition key to start; release when engine starts.
  4. Disengage parking brake, use foot pedals to control speed and direction.
  5. Engage PTO switch to lower and start cutting blades.
  6. Adjust cutting height using the deck lift lever.

Tip: For best cut quality, mow when grass is dry and overlap passes slightly.

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.

IntervalTask
Before each useCheck tire pressure, fuel/oil levels, and for loose parts.
Every 8 hoursClean cutting deck underside, check blades for sharpness/damage.
Every 50 hoursChange engine oil, check air filter, grease fittings.
Every 100 hoursReplace spark plug, check drive belts for wear.
Every seasonSharpen or replace blades, check battery charge, inspect tires.
StorageWinterize engine, clean thoroughly, store in dry location.

Cutting Deck Adjustment

Proper deck leveling ensures an even cut.

  1. Park on a level surface and set cutting height to middle position.
  2. Measure distance from blade tips to ground at all four corners of the deck.
  3. Adjust deck hangers or lift links to level the deck (front slightly lower than rear for best discharge).
  4. Re-check measurements after adjustment.

WARNING! Disconnect spark plug wire before working under the deck.

Engine Care

Follow engine manufacturer's guidelines for specific maintenance.

  1. Oil Change: Use recommended SAE viscosity. Drain when warm, refill to proper level.
  2. Air Filter: Clean foam pre-cleaner regularly; replace paper element as needed.
  3. Spark Plug: Clean and re-gap annually; replace if worn.
  4. Fuel System: Use fresh gasoline; consider fuel stabilizer for storage.
  5. Cooling Fins: Keep engine shrouds and cooling fins clean of debris.

Storage & Winterization

Proper storage prevents damage during off-season.

  1. Clean entire mower thoroughly, especially under the deck.
  2. Change engine oil and run engine briefly to circulate new oil.
  3. Add fuel stabilizer to tank and run engine for 5 minutes, or drain fuel system completely.
  4. Remove battery, clean terminals, and store in a cool, dry place on a trickle charger.
  5. Store in a clean, dry, and covered location, preferably on blocks to relieve tire pressure.

CAUTION! Never store the mower with fuel in the tank indoors or near open flames.
