Safety Information

Controls and Operation

Blade Care & Sharpening

Sharp blades provide cleaner cuts and reduce strain on engine.

1. Disconnect spark plug wire to prevent accidental starting.
2. Raise deck to highest position and block securely.
3. Remove blades using appropriate socket wrench (usually 5/8" or 3/4").
4. Sharpen blades maintaining original cutting angle (usually 30-35 degrees).
5. Balance blades using blade balancer; replace if cracked or excessively worn.
6. Reinstall blades with cutting edge toward ground; torque to 70-90 ft-lbs.

WARNING! Always wear heavy gloves when handling blades. Replace blades if damaged.

Storage

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and corrosion.

1. Clean entire mower thoroughly, especially underside of deck.
2. Change engine oil and filter if due.
3. Add fuel stabilizer to gas tank and run engine for 5 minutes to distribute.
4. Disconnect battery negative cable or use battery maintainer.
5. Store in dry, covered location away from moisture and direct sunlight.
6. Cover mower with breathable cover to prevent dust accumulation.

CAUTION! Never store mower with fuel in tank for more than 30 days without stabilizer.
