Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and assemble components following these steps.

  1. Attach guide bar and chain: Place bar on mounting studs, adjust tension, fit chain with drive links in bar groove.
  2. Install chain catcher: Ensure properly positioned on right side.
  3. Attach front hand guard: Secure with provided screws.
  4. Fill with fuel: Use Husqvarna 2-stroke oil mixed with unleaded gasoline (50:1 ratio).
  5. Fill chain oil tank: Use special chain oil for optimal performance.

WARNING! Always wear protective gloves when handling the chain. Ensure all fasteners are properly tightened.

Controls & Components

Familiarize yourself with all controls and their functions.

Main Controls: Front handle with throttle trigger, rear handle, throttle trigger lockout, stop switch, choke/stop control, chain brake/hand guard, decompression valve, primer bulb, fuel tank cap, chain oil tank cap.

Features: X-Torq engine, Air Injection, Smart Start, combined choke/stop control, side-mounted chain tensioner, visible fuel level, inertia-activated chain brake.

Technical Specifications

Starting & Stopping

Proper starting procedure ensures safe operation.

Cold Start:

  1. Activate chain brake by pushing forward.
  2. Press decompression valve (if equipped).
  3. Set stop switch to start position.
  4. Pull choke control to full choke.
  5. Press primer bulb 4-6 times.
  6. Place saw on ground, hold rear handle with right foot.
  7. Pull starter handle until engine fires.
  8. Move choke control to half-throttle position.
  9. Pull starter handle until engine starts.
  10. Blip throttle to disengage start setting.

Warm Start: Follow steps 1-3, then pull starter handle (no choke needed).

Stopping: Release throttle, press stop switch to OFF position.

Operating Instructions

Correct cutting techniques for safety and efficiency.

  1. Always use both hands: Left on front handle, right on rear handle.
  2. Maintain secure footing: Stand with feet apart for balance.
  3. Let chain reach full speed before cutting.
  4. Do not cut with bar nose to avoid kickback.
  5. Use appropriate cutting techniques: Overbuck, underbuck, notch cut for felling.
  6. Take breaks regularly to prevent fatigue.
  7. Never operate above shoulder height.

Tip: Keep chain sharp and properly tensioned for optimal cutting performance.

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures longevity and safe operation.

IntervalMaintenance Task
Daily/Before UseCheck chain tension, chain sharpness, chain brake function, fuel level, chain oil level
Weekly/10 hoursClean air filter, check spark plug, clean cooling fins, check all fasteners
Monthly/50 hoursReplace spark plug, clean fuel filter, check carburetor settings
Seasonal/100 hoursReplace air filter, clean cylinder fins, check vibration dampeners
AnnuallyProfessional servicing recommended

Chain & Bar Maintenance

Proper chain and bar care extends life and improves safety.

  1. Chain tensioning: Adjust when chain sags from bar rails. Tighten until snug, then back off slightly.
  2. Sharpening: Use correct round file size (typically 5/32" or 3/16"). Maintain 30° cutting angle.
  3. Depth gauge setting: File depth gauges to 0.025" (0.65 mm) below cutter.
  4. Bar maintenance: Clean bar groove regularly, flip bar monthly for even wear.
  5. Lubrication: Ensure chain oiler is working; adjust flow if necessary.

CAUTION! Always wear protective gloves when handling chain. Disconnect spark plug before maintenance.

Fuel & Lubrication

Correct fuel mixture and lubrication are critical for engine life.

Fuel Mixture: Use unleaded gasoline (minimum octane 89) mixed with Husqvarna 2-stroke oil at 50:1 ratio (2.6 fl oz oil per 1 gallon gasoline).

Chain Oil: Use special chain oil with good adhesion properties. Do not use waste oil.

Storage: Never store fuel mixture more than 30 days. Use fuel stabilizer for longer storage.

Storage Instructions

Proper storage prevents damage and ensures easy starting.

  1. Clean entire chainsaw thoroughly.
  2. Empty fuel tank and run engine until it stops.
  3. Remove chain, clean and soak in oil.
  4. Clean air filter and spark plug.
  5. Store in dry, cool place away from children.
  6. Use scabbard to protect bar and chain.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in tank for extended periods. Fuel can deteriorate and damage engine.
